SYSTEM OF EDUCATION
ECTS & grading at ULSIT

Education system at ULSIT
For incoming Erasmus+ students and doctoral candidates, understanding the academic structure helps make course selection, credit recognition and assessment much easier. ULSIT provides education at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral level and uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to describe student workload and support mobility and academic recognition.
ECTS credits are allocated to course units, lectures, practical work and other learning activities. A full academic year normally corresponds to 60 ECTS credits, while one semester normally corresponds to 30 ECTS credits.
Academic mobility at ULSIT
ECTS makes study programmes easier to compare and supports the recognition of learning completed during an Erasmus+ mobility period.
WHY ECTS MATTERS
ECTS supports mobility and recognition
ECTS provides a common way to describe academic workload and makes it easier to compare study programmes and recognise learning completed at another European higher education institution.
For Erasmus+ students, the system works together with documents such as the Learning Agreement and Transcript of Records, helping the home and host institutions understand the courses completed and the credits earned during the mobility period.

ACADEMIC PATHWAY
Three levels of higher education

Bachelor • Master • Doctorate
01 — Bachelor’s degree
The first cycle of higher education provides broad academic foundations together with specialised knowledge and professional competences.
02 — Master’s degree
The second cycle builds on previous higher education and develops advanced specialised, analytical and professional competences.
03 — Doctoral degree
Doctoral education is research-oriented and leads to the educational and scientific degree of Doctor. At ULSIT, doctoral candidates work within accredited doctoral programmes and research fields.
Key academic questions
ECTS supports mobility and recognition
ECTS stands for the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. It describes study programmes through credits based on learning outcomes and workload. The system is designed to make programmes easier to understand and compare and to facilitate student mobility and academic recognition.
